About the Krewe
The Krewe of Gemini is proudly celebrating its 41st Anniversary. Founded in 1969, the Krewe of Gemini serves as the official Krewe for the city of Gulfport and is comprised of members from across the Mississippi Gulf Coast; as well as other parts of the state, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Louisiana & other states as well.
While the Krewe of Gemini is indeed a Mardi Gras Organization, we are also an organization that believes in giving back to the community. We pride ourselves in being a family oriented Krewe and do so by providing two “Family Friendly” Mardi Gras parades to the citizens and many visitors of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Each year the Krewe of Gemini provides scholarships to graduating High School seniors living in Harrison County and we are actively involved with the Veteran Administration and local nursing homes.
We are also proud to support many worthwhile charitable organizations. Among these are these are the Boys & Girls Club’s of the Gulf Coast, Harrison County Family Court Shelter, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi and Ronald McDonald House just to name a few. We also hold an annual toy drive each Christmas. All of our philanthropic work is supported through fundraisers like our annual drawdown and the generosity of our own membership. We also participate in the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.
The theme for the upcoming 2010 Mardi Gras season is “An Enchanted Aria”. The coronation ball of King Jupiter XLI & Queen Leda XLI will take place at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center on Saturday, January 23, 2010 for Krewe of Gemini members and invited guests. After the coronation members and guests will celebrate late into the evening with music by BRW from New Orleans.
The Krewe of Gemini will proudly introduce this year’s royalty to the public when the Krewe rolls down the streets of Gulfport for their annual parades on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 2:00 PM and then again on Fat Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 5:30 PM.
The Krewe of Gemini welcomes all newcomers and visitors to attend their annual parades and catch some unique Krewe of Gemini signature Mardi Gras items.
